A Garrison Fly Rod
A few posts ago, A Cattanach Fly Rod, I mentioned that Jacob had several builds he wanted to accomplish before our trip out West. The second on that list was a Garrison 209E, 7'9" 5wt for himself. Other than being busy with the business of packing for and getting all our ducks in a row, we waited until we got out to Colorado to shoot some quick photos in the field.
According to Jacob, this rod is equally suitable for both small stream fishing and larger bodies of water, able to handle the wind, as well as the larger fish; a classicly smooth and progressive taper, just as, I'm sure, Mr. Garrison intended it to be.
The rod consists of alternating blonde and flamed strips, understated Garrison style reel seat hardware, with walnut filler, coffee-toned Struble Agate stripping guide, Jacob's hand-twisted nickel silver snake guides, and classic chestnut guide wraps with java brown tipping.
