Another Bamboo Fly Rod {Casting Carolinas Edition}
For four years now, Jacob has teamed up with his mentor, Charlie Downs, to put together a bamboo fly rod for the organization, Casting Carolinas.
Casting Carolinas is a non-profit organization which introduces women who are surviving cancer to fly fishing through retreats and single-day events. You can check out the Casting Carolinas website for a little more information.
This year, the rod is based on a Lyle Dickerson 7012 7' 4 DT. Here's a little more...
Hand split, hand planed, medium flamed cane
3x3 Node spacing
Orange silk windings with brown tipping
Nickle silver ring & saddle hook keeper
Maple burl reel seat with nickle silver cap & ring
Vintage Mildrum stripping guide
Modified forward Wells grip
Four dipped coats, oil based spar varnish
Every year, Jacob and Charlie put the rod together and donate it to CC to allow more women to attended a retreat or day-event. It will be at the Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Expo and several other events, if you’re interested in seeing it in person or purchasing a raffle ticket.
