Another Bamboo Fly Rod {Casting Carolinas Edition}

For four years now, Jacob has teamed up with his mentor, Charlie Downs, to put together a bamboo fly rod for the organization, Casting Carolinas.

Casting Carolinas is a non-profit organization which introduces women who are surviving cancer to fly fishing through retreats and single-day events. You can check out the Casting Carolinas website for a little more information.

This year, the rod is based on a Lyle Dickerson 7012 7' 4 DT. Here's a little more...

  • Hand split, hand planed, medium flamed cane

  • 3x3 Node spacing

  • Orange silk windings with brown tipping

  • Nickle silver ring & saddle hook keeper

  • Maple burl reel seat with nickle silver cap & ring

  • Vintage Mildrum stripping guide

  • Modified forward Wells grip

  • Four dipped coats, oil based spar varnish

Every year, Jacob and Charlie put the rod together and donate it to CC to allow more women to attended a retreat or day-event. It will be at the Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Expo and several other events, if you’re interested in seeing it in person or purchasing a raffle ticket.
