R. B. Meiser 3 piece 10 ½ 8,9,10 WT

$800.00

A custom made 3 piece 10 ½ 8,9,10, R. B. Meiser Spey rod. It was made for Tom Conrad in 2003.  His name is inked on it, as are these numbers. S2H106.  This rod is a work of art and shows only minimal signs of use. No hook dings or scuffs to the blank and very slight signs that the ferrules have been assembled. I talked to Mr. Meiser and he said it is a rare rod and was specifically designed for two handed overhead deliveries. He said it was an early version of his present 909 series of shooting head rods. Per his website “… By definition: These are short two handed rods that are designed specifically to eliminate the physical burden of single hand double haul deliveries … And especially to aide anglers in repetitious search casting with extreme shooting heads and big bugs.
The continuous single hand delivery of heavy shooting heads with monster flies in tow can weary any caster’s arms, wrists and shoulders over time. Using a tool that will allow an efficient two handed overhead delivery will without question minimize this physical burden.”
He also said it will require specialized lines to maximize its performance and suggested the following lines would be suitable:
Cortland Pike/Musky shooting head lines 26’ 500 grains.
Fresh and salt cold water floating to type 8 sink. Cortland Compact shooting head lines, 26’ 500 grains. Warm, fresh and saltwater intermediate to type 9 sink.
These customs go for $980 on his site
